Position: Postdoctoral Researcher
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a project focused on improving our understanding of the natural and anthropogenic contributions to the soluble iron deposition in the ocean.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop model components related to natural and anthropogenic sources of iron in Earth System models.
- Design and run model experiments on high-performance computing systems.
- Gather and evaluate observations to inform model development.
- Develop original research and analysis strategies to advance our understanding of atmospheric iron deposition.
- Collaborate with partner institutions on research projects.
- Present research results at international conferences.
- Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
- Contribute to the development of common analysis tools and assist in grant applications.
Requirements:
- PhD in Atmospheric Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Meteorology, Physics, or a related field.
- Advanced understanding of atmospheric aerosol, particularly dust aerosol, and knowledge of Earth System components and their interactions.
- Experience in atmospheric, climate, chemistry, or aerosol model development.
- Excellent computing skills in high-level programming languages (FORTRAN is valued).
- Experience with UNIX/LINUX environments and scripting languages (such as bash).
- Experience with atmospheric science data formats (NetCDF) and scientific software and tools (CDO, NCO, Python or R).
