Postdoctoral Researcher in Aerosol Microphysics

Job Description:

The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the Atmospheric Composition (AC) group. The successful candidate will investigate the microphysical processes affecting the aerosol population in the atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and implement state-of-the-art microphysics schemes within the weather-chemistry model MONARCH.
  • Design and run experiments with the new developments on BSC's high-performance computing infrastructure.
  • Evaluate the implemented microphysics schemes against available observations.
  • Publish results in peer-reviewed journals and communicate them in workshops and conferences.
Requirements:
  • PhD degree in atmospheric chemistry, physics, climate, remote sensing, environmental engineering, or a related field.
  • Advanced understanding of environmental, atmospheric, or chemistry sciences.
  • Experience in atmospheric, climate, chemistry, or aerosol model developments.
  • Demonstrated scientific expertise and good computing skills in high-level computer languages.
