About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Risk Management Professional to join our team at American Express. As a key member of our Global Risk, and Compliance (GRC) organization, you will be responsible for identifying and managing risk across all processes and geographies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) with Governance Framework: Collaborate with the CRO to develop and maintain the risk governance framework, including the Risk Committees.
- Conduct Independent Risk Assessments: Conduct analytical reviews and sample-based testing of risk processes to identify areas for improvement and provide effective challenge to first-line teams.
- Identify and Monitor Risk Metrics: Develop and maintain risk metrics to continuously identify, monitor, and oversee risk, including known and emerging risks.
- Enhance the Risk Appetite Framework: Monitor and enhance the Risk Appetite Framework to ensure it remains aligned with the company's risk tolerance.
- Develop and Coordinate Scorecards and Dashboards: Develop and manage scorecards, dashboards, and senior leader presentations to provide effective risk oversight and challenge to risk-taking functions.
- Evaluate Inherent and Residual Risks: Evaluate inherent and residual risks using relevant frameworks and methodologies, including quantitative methods.
- Develop and Manage Emerging Risk Framework: Develop and manage the Emerging Risk Framework to identify, assess, and inventory emerging risks.
- Review Compliance: Review compliance with safety and soundness areas of law.
- Own and Manage Policies and Procedures: Own and manage policies and procedures for the legal entities in Spain.
- Collaborate with Auditors: Collaborate with internal and external auditors in the review of the ERM framework.
- Generate Reporting: Generate reporting for relevant governance bodies.
Qualifications:
- Strong Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills and business acumen with a risk-reward control perspective.
- Experience in Financial Services: 6+ years of experience in financial services and risk management processes, framework, and systems.
- Ability to Manage Multiple Priorities: Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Familiarity with Enterprise Risk Management: Familiarity with Enterprise / Operational Risk Management (or similar experience) processes and framework.
- Familiarity with Regulatory Landscape: Familiarity with regulatory and industry landscape in Spain / EU.
- Experience with Regulators: Experience in interacting with regulators is a plus.
- Project Management Experience: Project management experience is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Programming experience (SQL, hive), strong technical skills to perform data evaluation and analytics.
- Proactive and Results-Oriented: Proactive in identifying issues, delivering, and escalating key findings, and advising on recommended solutions to mitigate risks.
- Ability to Learn Quickly: Proven ability to learn skills and knowledge on demand in a compressed timeline.
