Job Description

Canonical is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our developer experience team, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining specialist Python tools to support the build and publication process of our software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain Python tools to simplify the lives of developers and engineers.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand the needs of our software developers and engineers.
  • Design and implement build systems and automation tools to streamline the software development process.
  • Collaborate with external open source and commercial projects to understand how we can better serve community needs.
  • Extend the snap build ecosystem using your familiarity with languages, toolchains, frameworks, integrations, and CI systems.
Requirements
  • Expertise in Python programming language.
  • Strong understanding of the makeup of a modern GNU/Linux distribution.
  • Good understanding of build systems and toolchains, including for cross-compilation.
  • Experience working with container technology, such as Docker, Kubernetes, and LXD.
