Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Engineering Intern to join our Radiation Engineering & Analysis (REA) team. This role is ideal for current students pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree who are eager to contribute to our mission of delivering clean energy solutions.
Your Responsibilities
- Conduct neutron transport calculations within and around reactor vessels.
- Review plant schematics and develop transport models.
- Perform calculations related to fluence, activation, heating rates, and dosimetry.
- Analyze results critically and generate technical documentation.
- Calculate radiation source terms and post-irradiation compositions using ORIGEN.
- Assist in the Decontamination & Decommissioning (D&D) processes for retiring plants.
- Execute radiation shielding calculations.
- Conduct decay heat analysis.
- Support operational Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) with accident evaluations in compliance with regulatory standards.
Technical Skills
The REA team specializes in:
- Radiation source term calculations.
- Radiation transport using deterministic and Monte Carlo codes.
- Spent fuel characterization and plant decommissioning support.
- Licensing assistance for decommissioning nuclear facilities.
- Radiation protection services.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Academic credits towards a BS or MS in Nuclear Engineering or a related discipline.
Preferred Attributes
While not mandatory, the following skills are advantageous:
- Familiarity with Linux, programming, and computational simulations.
- Experience with relevant software tools (e.g., MCNP, SCALE).
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish.
