About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated researcher to join our team as a grant-funded researcher in the School of Biological Sciences. The successful candidate will be part of an ARC Discovery project on the molecular evolution of subterranean diving beetles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct genomic and RNA sequencing analyses of subterranean and related surface beetle species
- Characterise chemosensory and additional gene families showing adaptive or regressive patterns of evolution in subterranean species
- Collaborate with project team members to achieve project goals
- Develop and implement research plans and strategies
- Communicate research findings through publications and presentations
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A PhD in genetics, molecular biology, or a related field
- Experience in NGS library preparation and genomic sequence analyses
- Sound knowledge of molecular biology and its application in evolutionary biology
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
