About the Role

Gilead Sciences, a leading biopharmaceutical company, is seeking a highly skilled Public Affairs Director to join its team. As a key member of the organization, you will play a critical role in delivering strategic branded and unbranded external communication programs for Gilead's virology area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent Public Affairs internally and externally, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve strategic priorities and messaging.
  • Develop and implement new TA communications strategies in alignment with global direction and local market input.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional colleagues to ensure alignment and collaboration in strategic priorities and messaging across different stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and support for the implementation of in-market PR activities.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with external organizations, media, and influential professionals.
  • Prepare communications materials, including strategic programs, key messages, Q&A documents, press releases, presentations, and more.
  • Respond to media requests and coordinate interviews with Gilead spokespeople and opinion leader spokespeople as needed.
  • Manage issues and mitigate risks.
  • Understand regulatory frameworks and manage approvals and interactions with review teams.
Requirements
  • Market-level or pan-EU experience in product PR, media, and advocacy.
  • Ability to understand and accurately communicate complex science.
  • Demonstrated experience in media relations, issues management, and knowledge of healthcare and industry media trends.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulations and principles specific to communications for a publicly-traded biopharmaceutical company.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, with flexibility and a results-oriented focus.
  • Ability to interact with senior management and high-profile experts with confidence and ease.
  • Ability to give formal presentations to internal and external audiences.
  • Experience working successfully with patient organizations.
  • Fluency in English and the local market's language.
  • Typically requires a BA degree in communications, liberal arts, business, or a science-oriented field, with proven relevant experience.
