Job Title: Asturias (Spain) Marine Surveyor

RINA is seeking a highly skilled Marine Surveyor to join its team in Gijon or the surrounding area. As a Marine Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and quality of ships and marine assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a professional specialist for the organization in the application of related Rules, Regulations, requirements, concepts, principles, and processes.
  • Prepare technically accurate and timely reports of inspections and surveys performed.
  • Maintain survey files in an orderly and up-to-date manner in the area of responsibility.
  • Maintain active awareness of new working methods and developments affecting the technical scope of assigned responsibilities.
  • Recommend new approaches to problems encountered.
  • Perform routine surveys on classed ships, platforms, or other marine structures and at manufacturers' sites for compliance with classification and statutory requirements.
  • Engage in contact with clients to solve problems within the area of expertise.
Requirements:
  • Formal qualification in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Nautical School.
  • 2 years of professional experience, either as a surveyor or as an owner superintendent, shipyard quality control inspector, or as a STCW Officer (on board of merchant ships).
  • Young motivated candidates without previous experience will also be considered.
  • Previous experience as a surveyor of IACS Classification Societies would be a significant advantage.
  • Physically able to work in confined spaces, hazardous atmospheres, extreme temperatures, and weather conditions, etc.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of hull, machinery, materials, equipment, and safety systems of ships.
  • Fluent English language, both spoken and written.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work alone, in a team, and on tight schedules.
  • Ability to manage conflicts and to negotiate.
  • Pro-active customer-focused approach.
