Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a highly skilled Technical Application Scientist II to provide technical support for our Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) portfolio, particularly Ion Torrent and Oncomine Assays. The successful candidate will work closely with customers, field personnel, and internal teams to ensure effective support and implementation of our NGS platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical support for NGS products and workflows, answering customer inquiries via various channels.
- Collaborate with experts to address technical issues and provide solutions.
- Work with Clinical Application Scientists and Field Application Scientists to ensure effective support for Ion and Oncomine Assays.
- Accurately record customer interactions and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Gather commercial and technological trends to create technical tips, FAQs, and troubleshooting guides.
- Recommend changes to knowledge databases, websites, and other company-managed resources.
- Present technical updates to colleagues and contribute to department meetings.
- Participate in frequent training and continuing education on new applications and technologies.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Molecular Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics).
- 2+ years laboratory experience, with strong hands-on experience with Sequencing techniques.
- Previous experience working in a clinical laboratory or clinical research environment, with exposure to NGS technologies and interpretation of genomic data.
- Prior experience in customer service or a customer-facing role is a strong plus.
- Fluent English and Italian languages (spoken and written). Additional European languages are an asset.
- Master's degree or PhD/post-doctoral experience in a relevant field.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and data analysis pipelines commonly employed in NGS workflows.
- Regulatory knowledge: A firm understanding of the laws, regulations, and guidelines that govern the clinical diagnostic sector.
- Proven ability to quickly learn large amounts of new, complex technical information.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, to customers and colleagues.
