Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our HR Services Hub. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery and transactional part of the payroll processes for assigned locations and Nutreco entities. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll and benefit policies, principles, and legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand, explain, and apply payroll and benefit policies, principles, and legislation.
- Verify completed payroll and review reports for accuracy and completeness before distribution.
- Prepare manual payroll cheques in compliance with established corporate procedures and update the payroll system for accuracy.
- Liaise with payroll providers to handle system issues and required programming and updates.
- Conduct research to provide accurate, current, and verifiable information, guidance, and assistance to employees on payroll-related matters.
- Prepare remittances and reconcile payroll deductions, such as union dues, charity, statutory deductions, pension, and government filings.
- Align with the global Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on executing payroll processes.
- Act as a liaison with governmental tax bodies and other required government and third-party agencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, HR, or a relevant field.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in the field of expertise.
- Proven experience working on continuous improvement projects and project management.
- Excellent communication and written skills in French and English.
- Good communicator, building relationships, and making connections between internal and external contacts.
- Strive for operational excellence and high-quality work in a transparent and efficient manner.
- Analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
