Overview
The Network & Communication Security Specialist for the EMEA region plays a crucial role in safeguarding the integrity of network and communication services. This position emphasizes the integration of industry best practices from both IT/Cybersecurity and Operational Technology (OT) into the daily functions of cement production facilities.
Reporting to the EMEA Network & Communications Supervisor, this specialist is integral to the IT/OT convergence initiatives and is tasked with delivering L1/L2/L3 support for network and communication security services.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and enforce policies within the IT/OT framework.
- Contribute to the execution of IT/OT convergence projects.
- Ensure the separation of cement plant networks from corporate networks by deploying firewalls and managing network segmentation in accordance with Holcim Security Standards.
- Maintain industrial firewalls with optimal automation and configuration, regularly updating rulesets for maximum efficiency.
- Support cement plant managers and internal control teams in meeting Minimum Control Standards within the OT environment.
- Facilitate network segmentation within OT environments to ensure the reliability of automation networks.
- Provide expert technical guidance to monitor IT/OT networks for security threats and unauthorized access.
- Act as a key contributor to security projects within the department.
- Offer technical assistance for operational challenges related to network and communication services.
- Enhance the environment through automation to improve security service delivery.
- Deploy relevant monitoring tools and maintain a proactive approach to incident resolution.
- Utilize appropriate tools for configuration management and capacity planning.
- Collaborate effectively with Delivery, Security, EUS, I&O, and other IT Services teams.
- Ensure continuous development of technology and security skills.
- Engage with external vendors to procure hardware and software solutions for network security challenges.
- Implement, test, and maintain security systems including VPNs, firewalls, and email security.
- Assess current network security measures to align with future requirements.
- Identify compromised systems and document the security measures taken.
- Evaluate security risks and formulate response strategies.
- Develop and validate software deployment tools, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Create security documentation for users, assist in disaster recovery, and gather evidence related to cyber incidents.
- Proactively engage in root cause analysis, problem-solving, and the development of standard operating procedures.
- Conduct regular security audits and compile security status reports.
- Monitor key performance indicators to ensure service level commitments are met.
- Adhere to security, internal control, and standardization principles established by corporate and regional teams.
- Facilitate the smooth transition of delivered services into operational management.
Qualifications
- Education: A graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with a focus on IT. Professional industry certifications and experience in networking systems or network security are essential. Advanced certifications in networking (CCNA, CCNP, CCSP) and AWS Certified Advanced Networking are advantageous.
- Experience: A minimum of 6 years of broad technical experience in IT, particularly within IT/OT environments. Familiarity with various security technologies such as SIEM, Intrusion Detection Systems, Next Generation Firewalls, and vulnerability management is required. Experience with third-party providers and international teams is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of IT service management, existing and emerging technologies, and the ability to implement IT security policies. Proficiency in Cisco firewall technologies and network infrastructure is crucial.
- Behavioral Competencies: Strong communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to service improvement. A customer-oriented mindset and attention to detail are essential.
- Language Proficiency: Excellent command of English, both written and spoken. Proficiency in other languages relevant to the EMEA region is a plus.
Mobility Requirements: Willingness to travel within the region as needed.
