Position Overview
The Network & Communication Security Specialist for the EMEA region plays a crucial role in safeguarding the integrity of network and communication services. This position emphasizes the integration of best practices from both IT/Cybersecurity and Operational Technology (OT) into the daily operations of cement manufacturing facilities.
Reporting to the EMEA Network & Communications Supervisor, this specialist is instrumental in the IT/OT convergence initiatives and provides essential support across various levels (L1/L2/L3) for network and communication security services.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and enforce policies within the IT/OT framework.
- Engage actively in projects related to IT/OT convergence.
- Segregate the cement plants' network from corporate networks through the deployment of firewalls and appropriate network segmentation as per Holcim's security standards.
- Maintain industrial firewalls with optimal automation and configuration, ensuring efficient rule sets.
- Support cement plant managers and internal control teams in meeting Minimum Control Standards within the OT landscape.
- Establish segmentation within OT networks to guarantee the availability of automation systems.
- Deliver expert technical guidance to monitor IT/OT networks for potential security threats or unauthorized access.
- Act as a key contributor to security projects within the department.
- Provide technical assistance for operational challenges related to network and communication services.
- Automate processes to enhance the efficiency of security service delivery.
- Deploy monitoring tools and maintain a proactive approach to incident resolution.
- Utilize appropriate tools for configuration management and capacity planning.
- Foster collaboration with Delivery, Security, EUS, I&O, and other IT Services teams.
- Ensure continuous development of technology and security skills.
- Collaborate with external vendors to procure hardware and software solutions for network security challenges.
- Install, test, and maintain security systems, including VPNs, firewalls, and email security solutions.
- Assess current network security measures to align with future requirements.
- Identify compromised systems and document security responses.
- Evaluate security risks and formulate response strategies.
- Develop and test software deployment tools, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Create security documentation for users and assist in disaster recovery efforts.
- Conduct root cause analysis and develop standard operating procedures.
- Perform regular security audits and generate status reports.
- Monitor key performance indicators to ensure service level commitments are met.
- Adhere to security, internal control, and standardization principles set by group and regional teams.
- Facilitate the smooth transition of delivered services into operational teams.
Qualifications
- Education: A graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with a focus on IT. Professional certifications and experience in networking systems, information technology, or network security are essential. Advanced certifications in networking (CCNA, CCNP, CCSP) and AWS Certified Advanced Networking are advantageous.
- Experience: A minimum of 6 years of broad technical knowledge in IT, with experience in IT/OT environments. Familiarity with various security technologies, including SIEM, Intrusion Detection Systems, and Next Generation Firewalls. Experience in project management and working with third-party providers is beneficial.
- Technical Skills: Comprehensive understanding of IT service operations, emerging technologies, and IT architectures. Proficiency in implementing IT security policies and governance. In-depth knowledge of Cisco firewall technologies and network infrastructure.
- Behavioral Competencies: Strong communication skills, ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to service improvement. A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making is essential.
Language Proficiency
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the EMEA region is a plus.
