Why this role matters: The Engineering team at Vonage is a dynamic group of talented engineers. They face complex challenges associated with high-performance, distributed systems, and processing large volumes of data in real-time. A skilled team of backend developers is expanding to accelerate our platform development and support our growing customer base. Our Engineers work on a diverse mix of both greenfield and existing projects, offering opportunities to explore new technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop highly-concurrent and distributed systems;
- Optimize performance and diagnose issues;
- Design and develop for high-availability;
- Design, develop, and test new features;
- Support the release and documentation of developed features;
- Estimate the effort required to develop and implement;
- Help define coding standards and development processes;
- Provide out-of-hours support as part of an on-call rota.

Essential Skills and Experience:
- Strong programming skills with Golang.
- Proven experience in developing and maintaining enterprise-grade systems at scale.
- Experience with highly concurrent, distributed architectures/systems.
- Experience with containerized applications.
- Experience in profiling and optimizing performance.
- Experience with building REST/HTTP-based services.
- Experience and understanding of relational and non-relational databases.
- Experience in unit and integration testing.
- Ability to effectively communicate problems and solutions to team members.
