Atmospheric Iron Deposition Researcher: A Postdoctoral Opportunity

About the Position:
The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) is seeking a highly skilled postdoctoral researcher to join our Atmospheric Composition Group. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will play a key role in improving our understanding of the natural and anthropogenic contributions to soluble iron deposition in the ocean.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement model components related to natural and anthropogenic sources of iron in Earth System models.
- Design and execute model experiments on high-performance computing systems.
- Analyze and evaluate model results using observational data.
- Contribute to the development of original research and analysis strategies.
- Collaborate with partner institutions on research projects.
- Present research findings at international conferences.
- Publish research results in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
- Contribute to the development of common analysis tools and assist in grant applications.
Requirements:
Education: A PhD in Atmospheric Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Meteorology, Physics, or a related field.
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience:
- Advanced understanding of atmospheric aerosol, particularly dust aerosol, and knowledge of Earth System components and their interactions.
- Experience in atmospheric, climate, chemistry, or aerosol model development.
- Excellent computing skills in high-level programming languages (FORTRAN is valued).
- Experience with UNIX/LINUX environments and scripting languages (such as bash).
- Experience with atmospheric science data formats (NetCDF) and scientific software and tools (CDO, NCO, Python or R).
