POSITION SUMMARY:
The role involves the operation and maintenance of pedestal cranes on offshore construction vessels.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate the pedestal crane within the specified load capacity, adhering to derating tables based on weather and sea conditions.
- Conduct basket transfers when safe and permitted.
- Possess Offshore Crane Operator certification (level 2 for inboard lifts; level 3 for offshore lifts), with junior operators under training restricted from unsupervised lifts until certified.
- Maintain awareness of surroundings to prevent clashes with other vessel equipment.
- Understand crane limitations regarding reach and capacity.
- Coordinate with other cranes on vessels to avoid interference during simultaneous operations.
- Operate articulated booms on knuckle boom pedestal cranes, if applicable and within capability.
- Utilize active/passive heave compensation systems during lifting, as applicable.
- Collaborate with superiors to establish lifting procedures.
- Report any crane malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Ensure compliance with safe work procedures for crane operations.
- Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance on the crane and operator's cabin.
- Maintain cleanliness in the operator's cabin.
- Work with engineering personnel on crane maintenance and performance to ensure proper repairs and preventive measures.
- Conduct weekly inspections per manufacturer recommendations.
- Document all lifts exceeding 50 tons in the crane logbook.
- Cease lifting activities if safety or technical issues arise that could cause damage or injury.
- Report to the 1st Assistant while following instructions from the Deck Foreman or 2nd Assistant during operations.
Qualifications
- Experience on Semi-Submersible or Drillships is required (Jack-Up experience only is not sufficient).
- Availability for immediate employment is preferred.
- Proven experience in this role with the ability to work in European waters.
Compensation and Benefits
Project: Global Offshore Operations
Position: Offshore Pedestal Crane Operator
Contract Duration: 12 months (renewable)
Work Schedule: 28 days on, 28 days off
Working Hours: 12 hours per day, 7 days a week
Salary: To be confirmed
Overtime: Applicable
Probation Period: 60 days
Notice Period: 30 days
Accommodation: Provided by the employer
Transportation: Economy class travel provided for work rotations.
