Why this role matters: The Engineering team at Vonage is a dynamic group of talented engineers. They face complex challenges associated with high-performance, distributed systems, and processing large volumes of data in real-time. A skilled team of backend developers is expanding to accelerate our platform development and support our growing customer base. Our Engineers work on a diverse mix of projects, giving them opportunities to explore new technologies and drive innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop highly-concurrent and distributed systems;
- Optimize performance and diagnose issues;
- Design and develop high-availability systems;
- Develop and test new features;
- Support the release and documentation of developed features;
- Estimate the effort required to develop and implement;
- Contribute to coding standards and development processes;
- Provide out-of-hours support as part of an on-call rotation.

Requirements:
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Strong programming skills with Golang;
- Proven experience in developing and maintaining enterprise-grade systems at scale;
- Experience with highly concurrent, distributed architectures/systems;
- Experience with containerized applications;
- Experience profiling and optimizing performance;
- Experience with building REST/HTTP-based services;
- Experience and understanding of relational and non-relational databases;
- Experience in unit and integration testing;
- Effective communication skills to convey problems and solutions to team members.
