Commodity Specialist
Management of Facility Services and Utilities Expenditures
At Kennametal, we are seeking a German-speaking professional to join our Global Sourcing team. This role involves developing and executing sourcing strategies for the categories of Facility Services and Utilities, requiring a comprehensive understanding of the supply market, supplier sourcing, risk management, and performance oversight to meet Kennametal's objectives regarding Delivery, Quality, and Cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee Key Metrics & Outcomes, focusing on Ethics, Total Cost Reduction, and Strategic Sourcing Strategies to identify enhancements, execute improvement plans, and ensure compliance with Conflict Mineral Policies.
- Manage the strategy and execution for Facility Services and Utilities, including supplier performance and relationship management.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to foster strong partnerships aimed at achieving procurement targets while optimizing costs and ensuring contractual compliance.
- Identify and onboard new suppliers aligned with the commodity strategy, managing the supplier selection and segmentation processes.
- Conduct market analysis to stay informed about potential developments within the assigned commodity, including emerging players and technologies.
- Utilize market data to create various pricing and service models, enhancing understanding of market drivers to support strategic decision-making.
- Lead cross-functional projects, negotiate pricing and contracts, and continuously seek opportunities to optimize procurement costs.
- Monitor overall QDC Performance of the commodity and initiate improvement actions as necessary.
- Facilitate annual Business Review Meetings with key suppliers.
- Support Operations in accordance with the escalation process, acting as a liaison between manufacturing sites and the Sourcing organization to ensure alignment of sourcing and manufacturing strategies.
- Partner with the Global Sourcing Functional Excellence Team and other departments to ensure best practices and designated tools are effectively implemented across the region.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in strategic procurement or category management focused on Facility Services and Utilities.
- Proficient in English and German; additional languages are a plus.
- Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering.
- Strong negotiation skills, goal-oriented, and proactive with excellent communication abilities.
- Business Acumen: Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to prioritize effectively.
- Understanding of business performance measurement and the ability to align with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Customer Relationship Management: Ability to understand internal customer dynamics and requirements.
- Data Management: Skilled in analytics and data organization for informed decision-making.
- Project Management: Capable of designing and managing projects to deliver value within defined time and cost parameters.
- Financial Analysis: Proficient in creating cost-saving scenarios and analyzing financial impacts of decisions.
