About the Role

The Institut Josep Carreras (IJC) is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician to join our Single Cell Unit. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for providing scientific and technological support for high-level research projects in the single-cell genomics field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support internal and external single-cell DNA, RNA, and spatial transcriptomic projects
  • Quality control of samples, including viability tests and dead cell removal
  • Preparation of histological sections for spatial transcriptomics and microscopic imaging
  • Performance of nuclei extraction protocols for single-cell experiments
  • Preparation of sequencing libraries using different single-cell platforms
  • Quality control of generated libraries to ensure suitability for sequencing
  • Storage of generated sequencing libraries
  • Management of workflow to send prepared libraries to external sequencing provider lab
  • Maintenance of detailed records of unit processes
  • Laboratory stock management
  • Drafting of laboratory guides following ISO normative fundamentals
  • Updating and optimization of existing protocols

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Biology or related field
  • Experience in single-cell genomic and transcriptomic studies
  • Experience in spatial transcriptomics
  • Experience in massive sequencing techniques (NGS)
  • Experience with NGS library preparation, especially in single-cell library preparation
  • Experience in cellular culture
  • Experience in nuclei extraction protocols
