Overview and Objectives
The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) is at the forefront of integrating and harmonizing bioinformatics infrastructures across Europe. As a key player in the European Life Science Infrastructure for Biological Information (ELIXIR), BSC collaborates with over 20 countries and engages with various strategic European initiatives. The center is committed to advancing the bioinformatics landscape through partnerships with industry and promoting training activities.

The BSC is seeking a **Technical Research Manager** to enhance the coordination of the Data Science program within the Spanish infrastructure for Personalized Medicine. This initiative aims to create an interoperable framework for the integration and analysis of biomedical data, addressing clinical questions through advanced computing systems in healthcare settings. The role will involve collaboration with a diverse range of stakeholders, including hospitals, research institutions, and regulatory bodies, ensuring alignment with European initiatives in the field.

**Key Responsibilities**
  • Strategically plan resource allocation and monitor the progress of collaborative research projects, assisting the Principal Investigator in managing both technical and administrative aspects.
  • Collaborate with legal teams, researchers, and external partners, overseeing the negotiation and drafting of various agreements, including consortium contracts and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Organize and actively participate in project meetings, teleconferences, reviews, and other relevant events.
  • Maintain effective communication with all project stakeholders, ensuring regular updates and discussions.

**Qualifications**
  • **Education**: A University Degree related to Life Sciences or IT is preferred.
  • **Essential Experience**: A minimum of two years in research management and project proposal development, ideally within the life sciences or IT sectors.
  • **Additional Experience**: Background in bioinformatics, experience in developing technical specifications for projects, and familiarity with coordinating research proposals funded by European Commission programs or national contracts are advantageous.
  • **Skills**: Proficiency in English and Spanish is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to comprehend scientific literature and software documentation, and capability to work independently and under pressure are essential.

**Working Conditions**
  • The position is based at BSC within the Life Sciences Department.
