Job Description

i2cat Foundation is seeking a highly skilled professional to lead the management of intellectual property and technology transfer within our organization.

This role is part of the Knowledge and Technology Marketing area, which is responsible for preparing research results for commercialization. The successful candidate will work closely with researchers and business units to ensure that our research findings are effectively transitioned to the market.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial and intellectual property management, with a minimum of 2 years of experience. They will be proficient in English, Catalan, and Spanish, and able to read legal documentation in these languages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to protect and manage IP assets
  • Ensure that all IP-related processes are proactive and aligned with commercial opportunities
  • Serve as a key advisor to researchers and business units on IP matters, facilitating seamless commercialization of technologies
  • Manage the invention disclosure process
  • Oversee the protection of research results
  • Analyze patentability and manage patent applications with patent agents
  • Assess third-party dependencies on results
  • Track IP rights and their renewals
  • Evaluate generated intangible assets
  • Write public and private funding proposals to valorize assets
  • Manage projects for valorizing research results

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in industrial and intellectual property management (minimum of 2 years)
  • Proficiency in English, Catalan, and Spanish, with the ability to read legal documentation in these languages
  • Experience in writing public and private funding proposals
  • Excellent analytical, synthesis, and organizational skills

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of software licensing (main software open source licenses)
  • Experience working in a research center
  • Experience in the digital domain
  • Degree in telecommunications engineering or computer science
