Underwriting Department

Tasked with managing new business and evaluating existing portfolios, underwriters play a crucial role in revenue generation for AIG. They are responsible for assessing the risk associated with an insured entity, whether an individual or a corporation, and accurately determining the premium for the requested coverage.
Position Overview: Commercial Property Associate Underwriter
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in underwriting assigned risks.
- Foster relationships with brokers.
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling across various business lines.
- Facilitate the sales process for new products.
- Support the Front Desk Unit/Customer Service Group.
- Maintain a target list and generate submissions to achieve new business objectives.
- Possess knowledge of underwriting principles, practices, and methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Relevant experience in the insurance sector, particularly in Property, Energy, or Construction.
- Preferred qualifications include an engineering degree, or a degree in Law, Business Administration, or Economics.
- Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
- Outgoing and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Results-oriented approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Effective negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Solid analytical and organizational capabilities.
- Proficient in systems and PC applications, particularly in spreadsheet utilization.
