We believe in iteration over long-running projects, shipping incremental improvements to our platform multiple times a day. Our teams are organized into cross-functional efforts, focusing on various verticals of our product, such as Matchmaking, Anti-Cheat, Tournaments, Game Servers, and more.

Role Overview

As a Principal Frontend Architect at ESL FACEIT Group, you will work on large-scale projects, driving technical planning and collaborating with Engineering Managers to execute initiatives. You will be responsible for translating company goals into specific actions that unlock business value.

You will sponsor team-level experiments that may evolve into company-wide best practices, mastering the craft of weighing trade-offs of different architectural solutions against each other.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop a holistic vision of our platform, identifying its strengths and weaknesses.
  2. Drive technical planning and collaborate with Engineering Managers on executing initiatives.
  3. Sponsor team-level experiments that may evolve into company-wide best practices.
  4. Master the craft of weighing trade-offs of different architectural solutions against each other.
Requirements

**Technical Skills:**

  1. Building large-scale applications with React, Redux, and TypeScript.
  2. Good demonstrable TypeScript experience.
  3. Knowledge of React testing framework.
  4. Experience with WebSockets and real-time messaging.
  5. Desire to learn new technologies and frameworks.
  6. Previous experience working on large complex applications.

**Nice to Have:**

  1. Webpack.
  2. Attention to code quality and readability.
  3. Knowledge of optimization strategies (code splitting, lazy loading, tree-shaking, caching, etc).
  4. Extensive experience and knowledge around best practices when it comes to testing (Unit tests, e2e testing, etc).
  5. Knowledge of web best practices and Web Vitals metrics.
  6. Internationalization libraries (react-intl or react-i18next).
  7. Monorepo familiarity (Nx, Lerna, Turborepo).
  8. Previous experience with scalable architecture/systems serving thousands and millions of users seamlessly.
  9. Development with Security awareness, being aware of the top ten OWASP attack vectors to protect from (XSS, CSRF, etc).
