Project Engineer I

SUMMARY

The Project Engineer I is responsible for crafting tailored engineering solutions that align with client specifications. This role involves providing precise quotations and technical assistance related to internal cushioning and logistics solutions, ensuring compliance with customer requirements. The engineer will compile technical documentation, prepare schematics, and engage in various tasks related to a diverse range of packaging and equipment products utilizing CAD software. This position requires multitasking across several projects and may involve travel to client and production locations as necessary.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Executes a variety of design initiatives; formulates technical solutions and proposes enhancements to logistical solutions, including foam liners and specialized packaging needs. Aids in the design and modification of both new and existing product systems and equipment as dictated by client needs. Generates specification lists and bills of materials for both standard and customized products, making necessary adjustments to meet client demands. Participates in the implementation of product line improvements, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of design documents. Collaborates directly with clients to clarify unique requirements/specifications to establish optimal engineering solutions focusing on Quality, Cost, and Delivery. Estimates material and production expenses and prepares quotations based on client specifications. Works closely with departments such as Customer Service, Sales, and Production to address client needs effectively. Supervises the testing of existing products, prototyping of new designs, and any necessary modifications. Coordinates site visits and testing schedules as required. Maintains CAD drawings and related documentation, updating changes on ongoing projects as needed. Provides recommendations regarding manufacturing processes as appropriate. Identifies and reports on improper operations, defective materials, and areas for improvement to the relevant manager. Actively promotes Peli's commitment to Quality and all associated objectives, emphasizing continuous improvement. Adheres to company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreements, following safety protocols relevant to the role. Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

A university degree in Engineering (mechanical, industrial, design, etc.) with a minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing setting. Proficiency in verbal and written English is essential; knowledge of another European language is advantageous. Advanced skills in 3D CAD software (preferably Solidedge) and general computer proficiency (MS Office, etc.). Familiarity with SAP is a plus. Strong understanding of various materials, engineering processes, and manufacturing techniques, with the ability to quickly grasp the technical aspects of Peli-Hardigg products. Experience in cost estimation and the preparation and revision of quotations. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills (both oral and written). This role necessitates the ability to deliver excellent technical customer service and foster positive client relationships.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Actively supports and complies with Peli's objectives, guidelines, and commitment to Quality and Safety, with a focus on continuous improvement. Must be capable of effective and cooperative interaction with employees at all levels. Ability to complete assignments within the timeframes specified by management. Flexibility regarding working hours is required. Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Willingness to travel, both nationally and internationally, as necessary. Proficiency in English and a German language level of B2 or higher is required. A valid driving license in Europe is necessary.
