About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Sustainability and Internal Control Specialist to join our ESG Strategy & Reporting Corporate Department at Telefónica S. A. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the company's commitment to sustainability and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Participate in various projects related to the company's ESG internal control & transparency when reporting information.
  2. Update the sustainability reporting scope (ESG perimeter) periodically.
  3. Support in the coordination, preparation, and updating of internal control documentation (flowcharts, narratives, and risk and control matrices).
  4. Identify risks and design controls, determining the periodicity, associated IT systems, assertions they cover, characteristics (preventive or detective, manual or automatic, and key or non-key).
  5. Analyze and prepare documentation that includes and explains the recommendations of the verifier or internal auditor.
  6. Follow up and support in case of clarifications and propose action plans if necessary.
  7. Assist in the elaboration of a corporate guide on best practices when implementing the ICSR (Internal Control over Sustainability Reporting).
  8. Support in the digitalization of sustainability reporting scope (ESG perimeter) and internal control documentation.
  9. Adapt the reported sustainability information, including the reporting scope (ESG perimeter), to the CSRD (EU - Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive).
  10. Elaborate chapters included in the Annual Sustainability Report.
  11. Update and monitor the scorecard that includes targets for the different ESG topics.

Cross-Cutting Assignments

  1. Continuously analyze ESG regulations mainly related to ESG reporting and internal control (i.e., SEC and CSRD - ESRS) to identify next steps in the ICSR.
  2. Coordinate with internal audit and the external auditor.
  3. Interact with different areas in charge of sustainability information, local and corporate.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in engineering or business administration and management.
  2. Specific experiences in internal control/auditing and sustainability reporting and strategy will be considered.

Experience

  1. 3-5 years of work experience in audit/internal control, either in a corporation or consulting firm.
  2. Knowledge of sustainability standards and regulations (i.e., CSRD-ESRS), COSO integrated framework, and SOX law would be considered.
  3. Experience in designing and defining methodology for ESG strategy development would be recognized.

Languages

  1. High-level fluency in English and Spanish is required.
  2. Other languages valued, especially Portuguese and German.

Skills

  1. Passion and interest in sustainability trends and challenges.
  2. Good project management skills with attention to detail and comfort dealing with ambiguity.
  3. Analytical skills, including ability to identify gaps and opportunities.
  4. Experience participating in projects in a complex and international organizational environment.
  5. Great communication and writing skills.
  6. Ability to produce deliverables: reports, presentations, Q&As, papers.
