Purpose
The Patient Outcomes Research & Advocacy Manager will report directly to the RWE&OR Global Senior Director, bringing scientific knowledge to explore innovative Patient Reported Outcomes that effectively illustrate the impact of skin conditions and the value our treatments offer. By fostering strategic scientific collaborations with Patient Advocacy Groups and Research Organizations, this role ensures that the patient perspective is integrated from the outset of Almirall's research initiatives, reinforcing our leadership in dermatological outcomes research.
Key Responsibilities
Initially, you will conduct comprehensive desk research focused on Patient Reported Outcomes, allowing you to gain an in-depth understanding of existing literature. This will facilitate the identification of gaps and opportunities within dermatology that have yet to be explored. Engaging in scientific dialogues with Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs) and Scientific Societies will enable you to create new and relevant endpoints for further development and testing in our clinical and RWE programs.
Advocacy Development:
- Identify and map leading medical experts in patient-reported outcomes and value-based medicine.
- Engage in scientific discussions at a peer level to establish projects and long-term partnerships with prominent academic research institutions.
- Serve as Almirall's primary liaison with International Scientific and Research organizations.
- Identify and map PAGs representing individuals affected by skin conditions.
- Cultivate strong collaborations with relevant international PAGs to enhance understanding of patient needs.
- Work with the scientific committees of PAGs to create scientific solutions that accurately reflect the needs of dermatology patients and develop innovative PROs for our clinical trials and RWE programs.
Development and Maintenance
- Maintain a high level of scientific knowledge and expertise in dermatological conditions.
- Exhibit proficiency in designing and executing studies, particularly in RWE and OR.
- Understand the current new product reimbursement system to inform and guide patient groups, ensuring their voices are heard and access to innovative treatments is timely.
- Comprehend Healthcare Compliance and Business Integrity standards.
Strategy Definition and Development
Collaborate with Global Medical Affairs, Global Sustainability, Global R&D, and Global Clinical Development teams to create a patient group engagement and advocacy strategy at a corporate level.
Lead the Patient Engagement Initiatives Review Committee, ensuring that all relevant patient initiatives are thoroughly reviewed, endorsed, and executed effectively.
Provide expertise and support for the development of Global Medical Strategic plans, Clinical Development Plans (CDP), Global Medical Affairs (GMA) activities, and the Global Corporate Strategic plan.
Assist in internal and external communications surrounding specific Health Awareness Days and PAG initiatives, working closely with Global Communication teams to showcase Almirall's engagement with PAGs and enhance our image as a patient-centric organization dedicated to positively impacting patients' lives.
Monitor progress against established targets and develop appropriate KPIs to assess and report on program performance, material quality, and opportunities for future improvements.
Ensure that all deliverables are met within budget, maintaining the highest quality standards and compliance with all applicable processes, external requirements, ethical standards, and business needs.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of a Master's degree in Life Sciences; a PhD is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in a Medical Affairs or R&D environment.
- Proven experience in developing RWE&OR data is essential.
- Professional experience in Medical Expert Engagement, Patient Engagement, Advocacy, or Public Affairs is highly desirable.
