Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Grid Connection and Transmission Lines Technical Manager to join our team at Ferrovial. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful grid connection of power generation projects, meeting DNO/T SO requirements, and defining technical specifications to optimize designs within high-class quality standards and cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance during project development and ensure grid transmission and connection factors are considered.
  • Advise on better project interconnection points to minimize curtailments using appropriate congestion tools.
  • Define grid connections design that reduces installation time and cost while maintaining or improving plant performance.
  • Carry out technical due diligence and risk assessment on grid connection.
  • Conduct inspections for feasibility checks and alignment with project requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with P-Q requirements at the Point of Interconnection.
  • Ensure authorization documentation for connection requests and technical approval are successfully submitted.
  • Coordinate preparation of technical documentation for transmission and/or connection projects.
  • Manage Technical Advisors and Consultants to support related activities.
  • Maintain relationships with DNO/TSO to support grid application.
  • Lead and negotiate EPC/ICP Contract Technical Appendices and Major Equipment Technical specifications with Construction area.
  • Interact and support Construction and Business areas, serving as the main point of competence for the area of knowledge.
  • Support operation and maintenance of plants by providing grid expertise to Asset Manager and O&M team managers.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree associated with electrical power systems and/or electrical engineering.
  • Candidates with power flow/voltage and stability simulations in DigSilent and PSSE, or similar, will be given priority.
  • Proven track record and experience in a similar role for more than 6 years.
  • Candidates with experience of working directly for DNOs and/or other IPP are preferred. Familiar with DNO and TSO standards.
  • Candidates with experience in the design and construction of HV stations and power lines will be preferred, both overhead and underground.
  • Good understanding of Grid Connection Agreements in Spain and US ISO.
  • Experience in projects in North America, Spain, and Australia will be valued.
  • Available to travel as per projects/opportunities needs.
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills, strategic vision, push to make things happen, and appetite to succeed and commercially astute.
  • Proactive, autonomous, flexible, and able to prioritize. Anticipation capacity and problem solver and solution provider.
  • Fluent English is a must (C1).
