Position Overview
Role Summary:
The Platform Engineering team at Roche is dedicated to creating a robust infrastructure that supports a variety of healthcare and research software applications, facilitating seamless delivery from cloud environments to laboratory settings. This team is tasked with the development, testing, deployment, and operational management of platform services, ensuring an optimal onboarding experience for developers.
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role within a collaborative team of over 10 engineers, leveraging your expertise in design principles and practices to implement sophisticated, enterprise-level software solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Software Development: Engage in hands-on software development, crafting high-quality applications that are scalable, maintainable, and adaptable to future needs.
- Process & Operations: Ensure seamless integration of the software stack with our existing Continuous Integration (CI) pipeline, contributing to ongoing enhancements; independently design, plan, and deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Leadership: Foster a culture that prioritizes technical excellence while providing support and empathy for team members. Lead discussions on architecture and design to identify the most effective technical solutions, with the ability to influence stakeholders both within and outside the team.
Candidate Profile:
- Possess a BS/MS degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
- Bring over 10 years of practical experience in the software engineering domain.
- Have a proven track record of building, deploying, and maintaining enterprise-scale web applications in cloud environments (preferably AWS), with comprehensive full-stack experience and proficiency in at least one layer.
- Demonstrate hands-on software development skills in either Java or C++/C#, along with expertise in JavaScript using modern MVC frameworks such as Angular or React.
- Exhibit a strong ability to quickly grasp complex workflows and develop innovative solutions to challenging problems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with the Spring Framework.
- Familiarity with healthcare data and workflows (e.g., HL7, IHE) is advantageous.
