Job Title: Postdoctoral Researcher at the Smart Nano-Bio-Devices Research Group

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Smart Nano-Bio-Devices Research Group at the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST). The successful candidate will work on the development of self-propelled nanobots for translational approaches within biomedicine.

About the Project:

The Smart Nano-Bio-Devices Research Group is part of the ERC Consolidator Grant named iNanoSwarms, which aims to study the collective behavior of active nanoparticles (swarming intelligence), their cooperative motion, and their application as drug delivery systems.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Design, synthesis, and characterization of inorganic and organic nanocarriers for drug delivery.
  • Optimization of nanoparticle drug loading processes for the development of nanobots as active smart drug delivery systems.
  • Contribution to the development of new combinations of nanoparticles and therapeutic agents for their use as nanobots in biomedicine.
  • In vitro evaluation of the therapeutic effect and mechanism of action of drug-loaded nanobots under different biological environments.
  • Guiding bachelor, master, and PhD students.
  • Support to the Group Leader in funding acquisition and project development.
Requirements:
  • PhD in pharmacy, chemistry, biotechnology, nanomedicine, biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Experience in nanoparticle synthesis and functionalization of biocompatible and biodegradable inorganic and organic nanocarriers.
  • Experience in drug loading and drug delivery studies with therapeutic small molecules.
  • Knowledge of common characterization techniques (NMR, FTIR, DLS, Z-potential, GPC, HPLC chromatography, SEM, TEM, AFM, spectroscopy equipment, etc.).
  • High level of English.
  • Excellent publication record in the fields of nanomaterials, nanoparticles, nanomedicine, and related fields.
