Role Overview

As a Mechanical Engineer on our Ample Iberia team, you'll help solve complex challenges involving electric vehicles, robotics, and smart battery technology by combining creative tech design with fast iteration.

You'll work with our team to develop solutions to system-level concepts from initial brainstorm to production, utilizing critical thinking, leading design reviews, and utilizing hand calculations and FEA to develop functional prototypes.

You'll conduct product testing, provide assistance to electrical and software engineers to release a production-grade system while under an ambitious timeline.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop solutions to system-level concepts from initial brainstorm to production.
  2. Conduct product testing and provide assistance to electrical and software engineers to release a production-grade system.
  3. Create, document, and release 3D CAD and 2D GDT drawings for complex system designs.
  4. Assemble prototypes and rapidly iterate on design, focusing on DFM, cost, and ease of assembly.
  5. Design automation components and subsystems for Ample's battery swap stations.
  6. Design structures and architectural elements for Ample's battery swap station.
  7. Design fixtures and assembly aides to improve ergonomics, speed, and repeatability.
Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or similar field with 3-5 years industry experience.

Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals including structural material mechanics, thermal dynamics, engineering kinematics dynamics, and machine design.

Excellent 3D modeling skills and strong FEA analysis skills (Solidworks preferred).

Proven ability to research and develop complex projects and physically build functional prototypes.
