Position Overview

ROLE SUMMARY

The Engineering Division at Roche is in search of a skilled Software Architect who will guide the development team towards successful project deliveries. This role is pivotal in ensuring the optimal design and execution of software components to meet forthcoming product demands. You will serve as a crucial link between business objectives and technological capabilities, facilitating the translation of business needs to the technical team and articulating technical challenges back to the business stakeholders.

As a mentor and technical authority within the team, you will assist developers in enhancing their technical competencies, provide constructive feedback on their outputs, and offer guidance on their professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively engage in the development of architectures that align with project roadmaps, platform strategies, governance policies, and established standards.
  • Provide advisory support to projects regarding technological and architectural trends essential for informed decision-making and external interactions.
  • Identify and assist in the decision-making process concerning architectural trade-offs, considering risks, delivery timelines, scalability, performance, flexibility, maintainability, security, and other quality factors.
  • Oversee and evaluate systems to ensure they are designed and developed in accordance with corporate security, privacy, accessibility, legal, and other governance standards.
  • Disseminate knowledge of architecture and technologies among development teams, fostering a collaborative and positive environment within the team and across the organization using Scrum methodologies.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in a Tech Lead or comparable role, alongside 10 years in the Software Engineering field. Strong proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming and Design Patterns, particularly in Java .
  • Extensive knowledge of software architecture principles, including hexagonal architecture and Domain-Driven Design (DDD) .
  • Familiarity with methodologies such as Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) and Test Driven Development (TDD) , as well as Clean Architecture .
  • Experience in creating and maintaining automated unit tests, integration tests, and build processes.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including business analysts, developers, data scientists, and subject matter experts, along with demonstrated experience in leading refactoring initiatives for software modernization.
  • Proficient communication skills in English .

Additional Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Agile development practices, particularly Scrum, and experience in a SAFe environment.
  • Background in frontend development, especially with React .
  • Experience in architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud-based solutions.
  • Understanding of CI/CD processes and tools, including GitLab , GitHub , and Jenkins .
  • Knowledge of container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes .
  • Experience in managing large datasets, particularly in data-intensive applications.
  • Recent experience with JIRA.
