The Engineering Director, Community Leader will play a pivotal role in driving community engagement and processes across all of engineering at Canonical. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned professional to define the next generation of open source community building.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate proactively with multiple distributed teams to foster a culture of community engagement.
- Help engineering teams establish and achieve community engagement goals, ensuring consistency in community process, engagement, and interaction across engineering.
- Establish and maintain relationships with community contributors, mentors, and other stakeholders to promote a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Represent Canonical externally, influencing others and providing technical insight to customers and other engineers.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote Ubuntu and related technologies via blogs, social media, and other channels.
- Identify relevant influencers and devise plans to effectively engage with them, promoting Canonical's interests and values.
Requirements
- A long history and clear public record of community engagement, particularly with open source communities.
- Experience leading successful projects and teams, with a proven track record of driving results.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to represent Canonical externally.
- A strong understanding of industry trends and new technologies, with a passion for technology and working with brilliant people.
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technical Communication, English, or a related field.
