Role and Department

Coty seeks an exceptional individual to join the EMEA Logistics team as a Director of Transportation. This role will lead the customer Go-to-Market transport operations within the EMEA region, requiring in-depth day-to-day handling of internal and external partners.

Purpose of the Role

The Director will work closely with DCs and Haulers to support extraordinary service (OTIF) and drive productivity activities. They will support the NL-based global logistics leadership team in executing strategic and operational plans, providing expertise in transportation, and interfacing with Coty Customer Service, DC Operations, and Customs teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the operational transportation team for EMEA road transportation in Continental Europe, the UK, Ireland, and the Middle East.
• Manage core transportation metrics in service, cost, and quality, safety, security, and sustainability.
• Focus on service, cost, and sustainability, optimizing performance for the company and monitoring and driving improvement of transportation KPIs.
• Manage relationships with the Global Transport and 4PL to ensure proper execution of the domestic control tower performance for EMEA road freight.
• Maintain high levels of service and manage customer expectations while operating within budgetary conditions.
• Partner with Coty vendor compliance and procurement teams to ensure transportation governance structures.
• Serve as an escalation point for resolution of domestic and customer transportation issues.

Functional Responsibilities

• Support operational teams across EMEA, promoting best practices and leveraging consistency across the region.
• Work with the CoE to develop productivity programs and leverage network capabilities.
• Collaborate with DCs, Global Transport, and decentralized transportation teams.
• Build a network across all DCs and transportation functions to leverage knowledge and bundle activities.

Cost Control Responsibilities

• Partner with the finance team on monthly budget review processes and annual budget establishment.
• Identify cost savings projects and make recommendations, developing and executing plans once a Go/No-Go decision is made by the central logistics team.
• Identify opportunities and implement tracking of key cost drivers, such as cost per mile, cost per weight, accessorial %, and fuel %.
• Implement and maintain transportation cost-to-serve programs.
• Monitor, track, and report on project status, including tracking committed results, such as savings and service improvements.
• Partner with freight audit and payment providers to drive improvements in payment processes as needed.

People Development Responsibilities

• Support the integration program for new starters, ensuring they are fully supported to enable a smooth integration into the Coty culture.
• Lead, coach, support, and develop the regional Coty transportation and customs team, ensuring motivational leadership.
• Create a vision for the transport team and establish goals and objectives.
• Build collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams, such as DC/3PLs, customer service, global transportation, manufacturing, and commercial teams.

Strategic Projects and Capability Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities for improvements in supply spending that create value in terms of financial, service, safety, and sustainability for Coty.
• Give direction and management of projects across the function.
• Monitor, track, and report on project status, including tracking committed results, such as savings and service improvements.
• Engage with procurement on carrier network bids, supporting activities such as negotiation, financial analysis, and recommendations for the central logistics Amsterdam team.
• Lead the rollout of the new TMS system through the 4PL control tower and implementation of new functionality, such as mode optimization, lane consolidation, and multi-stop.
• Implement supplier relationship programs with key transport haulers, including monthly KPI reviews and QBRs.
• Support large strategic initiatives, including e-comm/DTC and supply network design changes.
• Lead Coty's transportation roadmap for sustainability and bring vision to life with carrier networks.
• Identify ongoing continuous process improvement ideas in areas such as freight payment processes, transportation planning, sustainability, and vehicle fill rates.
• Partner with the global transportation team/COE to establish transportation best practices.

Communication Responsibilities

• Ensure the regional leadership team, central PMO, and COE committees are included in key decisions and development in projects, industry updates, supplier updates, and best practices.
• Ensure timely visibility of customer shipments within, into, and out of the region and communicate with business units to confirm service and deliveries with proactive action plans.
• Partner with business unit customer services and planning teams to ensure efficient product flows.
• Utilize the network of stakeholders to apply best practices.

Data Management

• Act as the first point of escalation for Data Privacy risks and issues and be the key point of contact between employees and the Coty Data Privacy team.
• Facilitate Data Privacy initiatives, including coordination of training and Privacy Champion communities.
• Ensure employees have completed mandatory Data Privacy Compliance training.
• Conduct all activities in accordance with Coty's Code of Conduct and Global Policies and Procedures.
• Take due care to protect employee and customer Personal Data in line with Coty's Data Privacy Global Policy and Procedure and Information Security Policies and Procedures.
• Develop a culture of Data Privacy awareness throughout the country/function/division or team.
• Have a detailed understanding of Coty's Data Privacy Global Policy & Procedure and the Coty Information Security Policies and Procedure.

The Opportunity

Coty is focused on developing its supply chain and maximizing the value it provides to the Group. Managing a critical category of spend that has operational service, safety, sustainability, and financial aspects.

Your Network

You will work closely with senior leadership at DCs and in the market supply chain team as well as the corporate logistics, procurement, planning, engineering, quality, and HR functions. You will also build strong relationships with all individuals in the DCs to support them effectively.

Experience, Knowledge & Know-how

• A self-motivated leader and team player with +10 years of operational and project leadership in transportation, logistics, supply chain experience.
• Influential leadership skills to motivate non-direct reports.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to deal with senior leadership to convince and influence effectively, overcoming barriers.
• Experience of Health & Beauty and FMCG environments with commercial understanding of DC, transport, and customs operations.
• Operational experience within third-party logistics providers or managing them.
• Ability to coach and develop individuals in difficult situations and develop competencies.
• Achievement of innovative results and a proven track record of significant cost savings.
• Experience of implementing new systems (e.g., WMS, LMS, TMS or Customs systems) and processes (control tower) in a transversal environment.
• Experience of implementing improvement programs in a logistics or industrial environment.
• Proficient financial analysis skills.
• Experience in working across multiple countries and cultures.
• English language essential; a second European language such as Dutch, French, Spanish, or German will be an advantage.

Qualifications

This role requires a degree-level qualification. Supply chain professional qualifications from recognized organizations (e.g., IATA, IMO) are highly desirable, such as International CPC, World Customs Compliance & Regulations, Dangerous Goods Regulations, etc.
