About the Role

The Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG) is seeking a highly accomplished and visionary Director to lead our research efforts in molecular cell biology and genomics. As a senior scientist and research leader, you will be responsible for defining the overall scientific and technological vision for the institute, providing leadership for our research programs, and ensuring the excellence of all MPI-CBG activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning and Leadership
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the institute, aligning with the MPI-CBG's mission and goals.
    • Provide leadership for our research programs, ensuring the highest standards of scientific excellence and innovation.
  • Research and Innovation
    • Establish and lead a world-class research laboratory, focusing on molecular cell biology and genomics.
    • Develop and implement new research initiatives, fostering collaboration and knowledge transfer between researchers.
  • People Management and Development
    • Lead and manage a team of researchers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support for their professional development.
    • Develop and implement strategies for talent acquisition, retention, and career advancement.
  • Communication and Representation
    • Represent the MPI-CBG at national and international forums, promoting our research and scientific excellence.
    • Communicate our research findings and impact to the scientific community, media, and stakeholders.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • PhD in a relevant field
  • Proven track record of scientific excellence and leadership
  • Exceptional leadership and management skills
