Come explore Novanta.SummaryWe are seeking a senior Backend Developer to join our cloud development team and work alongside our lead backend Java developer. You will be responsible for maintaining and expanding our cloud-based RFID management platform, ensuring scalable and reliable backend services for our global customer base. This role offers the opportunity to learn and contribute to a critical system while helping to reduce single points of failure.Primary ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain backend services for our cloud platformin Java and Spring frameworkCollaborate with the Lead Backend Engineer to learn existing system architecture and best practicesImplement new backend features and API endpoints as requiredOptimize database queries and improve system performanceTroubleshoot and resolve backend issues in production environmentsParticipate in system design discussions and architecture decisionsCreate and maintain technical documentation for backend systemsSupport integration with RFID hardware and third-party servicesYour ExperienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field5+ years of proven Java applications developmentStrong proficiency in Java backend programming(Spring framework is a big plus)Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and query optimizationStrong knowledge ofRESTful API design and developmentFamiliarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerizationUnderstanding of microservices architecture and distributed systemsExperience with version control systems (Git) and agile development practicesKnowledge of RFID technology or IoT systems is a plusStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaborativelyFluent in English (Spanish is a big advantage)Oracle Java certification is a big plusOur ProfileCompany that designs and manufactures worldwide RFID equipment for the retail sectorFlexible working hours23 days off + 2 days extra1-2 days per week working from home possibilityYoung and dynamic work environmentNew 4000sqm corporate building next to Westfield La MaquinistaSpecialty coffee, tea and table tennisSupport for online training programsAbility to grow in a fast-paced international companyNovanta is proud to be an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action workplace.
