The NPN group is dedicated to advancing state-of-the-art microscopy techniques, allowing for high-precision imaging and manipulation of neuronal activity. As part of this new interdisciplinary team at IBEC, the successful candidate will work at the intersection of neuroscience and advanced photonics, developing optimized nonlinear optical microscopes to improve the study of neuronal circuits in vivo. The postdoc will be the key person in designing and developing the optical solutions, and performing proof of principle experiments in neuroscience.Main tasks and responsibilities:Optical System Design : Simulate and develop advanced optical systems based on high-peak-power infrared lasers and optical fibers.Experimental validation : Perform in vitro and in vivo experiments, including designing and adapting surgical protocols, to establish the performance of the microscopeLeadership : Mentor and supervise PhD and master's students, fostering their growth in research and innovation.Scientific Dissemination : Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present research at international conferences.Requirements for candidates:Essential:Education : PhD in photonics, biology, or related fields, completed before the start date of the contract.Expertise : Proven experience in optical microscopy, especiallytwo-photon microscopyand innovative optical solutions.Neuroscience Experience : Hands-on experience with surgical procedures and in vivo experiments, particularly in mouse models.Core Competencies : Proactive and collaborative mindset, with strong problem-solving skills and effective communication in multidisciplinary settings.Language Skills : Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.Advantageous:Previous experience in miniaturized optical components and in vivo microscopy is a significant advantage.Experience working in international research teams or institutions.We Offer:Number of available positions: 1Starting date: 01/05/2025Working conditions:3-year full timecontract.Measures to reconcile work and family life (parental leave, flexible schedule working hours, 23 working days of paid holidays, 9 leave days for personal matters, among others).IBEC ensures equality of access to professional development opportunities irrespective of employment status, length at IBEC or other factors.
