Asegúrese de leerla detenidamente y luego envíe su solicitud.Introduction to the vacant position:TheNonlinear Photonics for Neuroscience (NPN) groupat the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) is seeking a highly motivated and talentedPhD studentto join our cutting-edge research on optical imaging technologies for neuroscience.Our group focuses on the development of next-generation microscopy tools that enable high-resolution imaging and manipulation of neuronal activity. As part of theERC Starting Grant "2P-BRAINSCOPY"project, the selected candidate will work on developing new approaches for miniaturized microscopes to ease the study of neuronal circuits in freely moving animals.The successful candidate will become part of an interdisciplinary team and receive training in the latest optical technologies developed by the NPN group. The project offers a unique opportunity to develop a diverse skill set spanningoptical system design ,miniaturization , andneuroscience applications .We are looking for someone passionate about combining physics, engineering, and biology to tackle complex problems in brain research.Main tasks and responsibilities:Optical System Design : Simulate, design, and develop advanced optical systems utilizing high-peak-power infrared lasers, optical fibers and spatial light modulators.Experimental Validation : Conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments to assess and optimize microscope performance.Data Analysis : Analyze experimental data and develop tailored computational strategies to extract meaningful insights.Collaborative Research : Work closely with an interdisciplinary team of postdocs and engineers with expertise ranging from optics to neuroscience.Scientific Dissemination : Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present results at leading international conferences.Requirements for candidates:Essential:Education : Master's degree in Physics, Photonics or Engineering.Technical Expertise : The candidate must be familiar with electromagnetic theory, especially light propagation and light-matter interactions.Scientific Motivation : Strong interest in applying advanced optical techniques to neuroscience or related biological research.Core Competencies : Proactive, collaborative, and solution-oriented mindset with excellent communication skills, particularly in interdisciplinary environments.Language Proficiency : Fluent in English, both written and spoken.Advantageous:Previous experience in biophotonics research.Previous experience with numerical models and simulations.We Offer:Number of available positions: 1Starting date: 01/10/2025Working conditions:4-year full timecontract.Very competitive salary.Measures to reconcile work and family life (parental leave, flexible schedule working hours, 23 working days of paid holidays, 9 leave days for personal matters, among others).IBEC ensures equality of access to professional development opportunities irrespective of employment status, length at IBEC or other factors.
