Director AI Model Optimization

The Director of AI Model Optimization at Openchip will focus on maximizing the efficiency of AI models on our custom hardware platforms. This role requires deep expertise in model compression, quantization, and hardware-aware AI optimization to ensure high performance across diverse computing environments. The ideal candidate will bridge AI software and hardware disciplines to push the boundaries of AI efficiency.Para una comprensión completa de esta oportunidad y de lo que se requerirá para ser un candidato exitoso, siga leyendo.Key Responsibilities:Lead the development and optimization of AI models to run efficiently on Openchip’s custom hardware platforms.Drive research and implementation of model optimization techniques such as quantization, mixed-precision training, pruning, and model distillation.Work closely with the hardware and AI software teams to align AI model efficiency with Openchip’s compute architecture.Design and optimize AI model training and inference workflows for large-scale deployments.Oversee benchmarking and performance evaluation of AI models across different hardware configurations.Ensure Openchip’s AI stack competes at the highest level against industry-leading AI accelerators.Represent Openchip in AI model optimization research communities and technical working groups.You will be reporting to the Chief AI & Software Systems Officer within Openchip.Qualifications:MSc or PhD in Computer Science, AI, Computational Engineering, or a related discipline.Strong background in AI model optimization, including experience with quantization, pruning, and distributed training methodologies.Expertise in AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, ONNX, and compilation stacks like TVM.Familiarity with AI hardware acceleration techniques and low-level performance tuning.Experience working at the intersection of AI software and hardware, optimizing models for specialized computing platforms.Demonstrated ability to drive AI model efficiency at scale in a production environment.Soft Skills:Strong leadership skills with experience in managing AI model optimization teams.Analytical mindset with a passion for performance-driven AI engineering.Ability to work across software and hardware disciplines to drive AI efficiency gains.Effective communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external research partners.Proactive and solution-oriented approach to technical challenges.What We Offer:Join an innovative team and experience company growth.We believe in investing in our employees and providing them with opportunities for growth and career development.Work in a hybrid environment with flexible scheduling.We offer a remuneration package that values your experience.A chance to work on one of the most transformative AI and silicon engineering companies in Europe.The position will be based in Barcelona (Spain).We are looking for outstanding people willing to join our mission to change the silicon industry and help build a better world.
