We're looking for a Mobile Team Lead to lead the greenfield rewrite of our iOS/Android application using Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose Multiplatform (CMP). This role combines strong technical leadership with a genuine focus on people management—you'll be equally invested in architectural decisions and in helping your team members grow their skills and advance their careers. You should be someone who thrives on developing talent, providing both support and constructive challenge, and building teams that deliver excellent work while leveraging modern AI-assisted development tools like Cursor or Claude Code. Key Responsibilities People Leadership Drive the team's professional growth and skill development; create targeted learning plans and coach team members on AI-assisted development practices Provide psychological safety for the team to achieve and learn, remove blockers, and advocate for your team's needs with stakeholders Set ambitious but achievable goals that stretch team members beyond their comfort zones Give candid, constructive feedback regularly—challenge technical decisions thoughtfully and address underperformance directly and compassionately Identify high-potential team members and create opportunities for them to own technical areas as DRIs and lead initiatives Champion your team's achievements and ensure sustainable pace Design comprehensive onboarding programs for team members transitioning to KMP/CMP and foster a culture of continuous learning Technical Leadership Facilitate distributed architecture decision-making where team members own technical areas as DRIs (navigation, database, networking, etc.) Keep the big picture in view: vet and guide decisions based on whether they make everyday development easier or harder Champion simplicity and pragmatism — spot over-engineered solutions that solve problems we don't have Push back on patterns and practices that add complexity without clear business value Establish lightweight coding standards that enable velocity rather than ceremony Contribute high-impact changes to the codebase and maintain hands-on involvement in code reviews with a focus on readability and maintainability Drive adoption of AI-powered development tools across the team, demonstrating tangible productivity improvements Collaborate with product and design to translate requirements into straightforward technical solutions Required Qualifications 8+ years of mobile development experience (iOS and/or Android) Strong proficiency in Kotlin and experience with Kotlin Multiplatform Hands-on experience with Compose Multiplatform or Jetpack Compose Demonstrated proficiency with AI coding assistants (Cursor, Claude Code, or similar) with the ability to train others is a must 2+ years of direct people management experience, leading teams of 3-8 engineers Proven track record of developing engineers into their next level Experience giving difficult feedback and managing performance improvement plans Preferring business outcomes over technical purity — will choose a simple solution that ships over a perfect one that doesn't Leading by example, including hands-on coding and learning new technologies What we offer: A greenfield rewrite on modern foundations A product-first mindset with mobile at the core of our strategy A fully remote team with a base in Berlin Dedicated weekly hours for learning, prototyping, or experimenting with new tools Competitive salary We are seeking a performance-driven, high-energy personality who has several years of experience in the field.
