The Vall d'Hebron Research Institute

(VHIR) is a public sector institution that

**Diagnostic Nanotools Research Group**

Diagnostic Nanotools is a research group based at Vall d’Hebron Hospital (Barcelona, Spain). Our aim is to develop

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Education and qualifications:
Degree and Master in Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Nanotechnology, Biomedical
Engineering or similar disciplines. Having defended a PhD in one of these disciplines over the last 5 years
would be a plus.

Publications as the first author and previous stages abroad will be a plus.

Spanish competence; English competence written and spoken.

Dynamic and organized, technically skilled, with high autonomy level and multidisciplinary profile.

Interest in applied research and technology transfer.

**Experience and knowledge:
Experience in the optimization and performance of particle-based bioassays.
- Familiarity with different strategies for surface modification with biomolecules.
- Familiarity with glycomics and polysaccharide modification (chemically and/or enzymatically).
- Hemagglutination and hemagglutination inhibition assays for virus detection

**Main responsibilities and duties: -**

Our Research Group has produced a synthetic reagent and method for detection of influenza viruses, which
by improving surface bioengineering in order to achieve better sensitivity, decreased production cost, and
detection versatility.
