**The Role**:

Key Responsibilities will include, (but not limited to):

- As a teacher:

- To have high expectations of all students and to track progress based on relevant data, observations and a wide range of assessments.
- To produce or contribute to practical, oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual or groups of students.
- To maintain discipline in accordance with the school’s procedures and encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour and standards of work.
- To assess students’ work in line with school policies and procedures referring to student performance targets.
- Head of Department
- Working with the Head of Science to promote outstanding science education in general and a passion for Chemistry in particular.
- Line manage two other Chemistry teachers. Lead the collaborative planning and development of the Chemistry curriculum.
- Attend Heads of Department meetings.
- Lead professional development conversations and appraise staff within the department, dealing with under performance in your team if required.
- Lead department meetings, promoting the sharing of good practice.
- Oversee the department’s report writing, ensuring standardisation and accuracy.
- Other responsibilities
- To continue personal development and participate in the school’s staff development programme.
- To engage actively with the school’s performance management programme.
- To act as a form tutor if required, having the personality to be a supportive member of the pastoral team.
- To help with extra-curricular activities as required.
- To work as a member of a team, positively contributing to effective working relations within the school.
- To attend staff meetings, open evenings, and parents’ evenings.
- To attend morning assemblies and staff morning briefing unless on duty.
