- Barcelona**What We Are Looking for**:
- ISGlobal is looking for a biomedical graduate with a Master’s degree to perform cellular immunology laboratory bench work and flow cytometry in studies of biomarkers and immune correlates of protection against malaria and COVID-19 after infection or vaccination, as well as in other studies by the Malaria Immunology group. In addition, knowledge on data analysis and bioinformatics for the data generated in the lab will be an asset. Activities carried out in the projects aim to investigate mechanisms of vaccine-induced protection against infectious diseases, and identify correlates of vaccine-induced protection. The studies are carried out in collaboration with multiple international research centers (Africa, Europe, USA, Australia).**Field research**:

**Key Responsibilities**:
- The purpose of the position is to process cells and other samples for future immunology assays, perform cellular assays (flow cytometry, FluoroSpot, etc), data QAQC and preprocessing, to ensure that datasets are organized in a standard format and available for statistical analysis at ISGlobal and international collaboration centers, under the supervision of the PIs. This position will also include advanced training in some techniques (e.g. flow cytometry), and require experience bioinformatics and data analysis. The position is based at ISGlobal in Barcelona.**Specific Duties**:
- Process cells (gradient separation, freezing for storage, thawing)
- Carry out immunology assays (FluoroSpot, Spectral and Flow Cytometry, Luminex, etc)
- Perform data QAQC and preprocessing
- Carry out data cleaning including contact with international partners to resolve queries
- Document and archive data and R scripts for easy use in future research
- Conduct bioinformatics and other data analyses in FlowJo, R and other software if needed.
- Prepare data reports and manuscripts
- To manipulate and analyze high-dimensional data sets requires programming and database skills, such as R, and data visualization and presentation tools, to turn complex analysis into information.

**Training and experience /Qualifications**:
- Degree and/or Master in biomedical sciences with data analysis expertise (e.g. through a Master in Bioinformatics or statistics)
- Knowledge in sample processing and analysis in a lab environment
- Experience in statistical analysis, preferably with R processing (including Excel, CSV), managing and analysing complex multidimensional data and bioinformatics methods
- Experience in analysis of immunological and infectious diseases data would be an asset.
