The purpose of the role

The purpose of the Food Safety Specialist is to promote Food Safety and Quality Culture throughout the business with maintenance and continual development of all aspects of a robust food safety system in line with company strategy, regulatory, and customer requirements - whilst responding to an ever changing and evolving demand.

**Responsibilities**:

- Promote and ensure total quality (product and service) maintaining and monitoring of the European Quality System and liaison with other departments to ensure all aspects of the business are incorporated into the Quality System.
- Development, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of effectiveness (validation) of all food safety and quality systems in manufacturing and warehousing areas, ensuring the high standards in quality and food safety are achieved in line with Griffith Foods values.
- Development and delivery of training programmes in Food Safety, Quality Systems, HACCP, Allergen control, Hygiene, Product integrity, and Customer specific requirements.
- Development, implementation, and maintenance of GMP, HACCP, Allergen controls, Hygiene systems, Calibration, to ensure compliance and to enable Quality to remain at the highest level.
- Training, support, and development of other members of the Food Safety team to facilitate cross functional capability between the differing Food Safety job roles.
- Filling in Customer self
- audits questionnaires and general questionnaires
- Ensure success of customer audits and system audits together with the Quality Team
- Support and if necessary, conduct 3rd party, customer, or supplier audits.
- Manage / liaise with food safety related service providers (e.g. hygiene / pest control, etc.) to ensure a continued high standard of service and promote continual improvement.
- Act as a point of contact to all departments (including European counterparts) providing knowledge and support in relation to all aspects of the food safety / quality systems.
- Support and assist the Site Quality Manager

**Requirements**:

- Degree or Master’s Degree in Food related discipline
- Advanced knowledge in operational computer skills: MS Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Accomplished auditor.
- RIPHH Certificate in HACCP principles
- Detailed knowledge of BRC standard and other relevant customer standards
- Fluent in Spanish & English
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role in the food industry with proven abilities in achieving results by building relationships.
