Project Communications Officer

The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a Project Communications Officer. This position will be funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101058481, SUNER-C.

Our mission is to lead, from the vantage point of molecular science, cross-strategies for solving major social and economic challenges, such as climate change and sustainable supply of energetic and raw materials, thereby contributing to the establishment of a knowledge-based economy and improving citizens’ quality of life in our influence area.

The officer will work at the Communication and Image Unit, giving support to the dissemination and communication actions of key ICIQ projects and supporting the preparation of other competitive projects. The communications officer will mainly focus on a new European Coordination and Support Action (CSA), SUNER-C, implementing the actions described in the Communication and Dissemination work package of the project, with the objectives of involving relevant stakeholders in the action and attracting large public support. This position will be a key role in ensuring that this project informs public knowledge, debate and decision-making in accelerating the development of solar fuels and chemicals.

**Responsibilities**
- Coordinate the dissemination and communication (D&C) activities across all partner institutions of a European network formed by 29 core institutions and more than 100 supporters, in collaboration with the network management team. This includes responsibility for the implementation, evaluation and reporting of all the D&C activities.
- Write press releases, respond to media queries, be in charge of the production of supporting communication materials (e.g. leaflets, newsletters, infographics), website and social media updates.
- Participate in the drafting of project deliverables.
- Promote awareness of the European network within Europe and attract stakeholders’ interest in the project.
- Build relationships with members of the network, research partner organisations, NGOs, science policy institutions and other relevant stakeholders that play a role in accelerating the development of solar fuels and chemicals.
- Support the Research Projects Department at ICIQ with the communication and dissemination tasks of awarded projects and writing of competitive proposals.
- Support ICIQ researchers to better communicate their research results to journalists.

**Requirements**:

- Degree in a scientific discipline or in journalism with experience in science communication.
- Advanced level of English and Catalan (written and spoken).
- Knowledge of publishing techniques for web and print. Familiarity with social media tools.
- International experience.
- Team working skills.
- Excellent communication and networking skills.
- Proactive and enthusiastic personality.
- Availability to travel within Europe.

**Valued qualities**:

- Previous experience in the dissemination and communication tasks of European projects.
- Knowledge on European policy and advocacy.
