**Job Description Summary**: The Blade System Engineer is responsible for design requirements definition, design documentation and design validation of the Haliade X wind turbine blade. Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment. He/ She will work in Engineering Rotor Team while in close collaboration with Blade Design and Wind Turbine Systems Engineering Teams.

Working in transversal collaboration he/ she shall define, document and secure the implementation and validation of all the blade design requirements in accordance with wind turbine high level requirements.

**Roles and Responsibilities**

**Design requirements definition**

The Blade System Engineer is responsible of component design evolution and will be responsible of:
Engineering design changes management Design non-conformities resolution Participate in the technological watch, actively promoting both the protection and the development of GE’s intellectual property.

The Blade System Engineer develops the blade Test & Validation strategy in alignment with the corresponding design guidelines and related design teams. This Test & Validation strategy is developed through a tops-down approach to cover from system level to component validation.

**Component Validation**

Particular focus is given to blade integration in the turbine. The Blade System Engineer shall define the optimum integration requirements in transversal collaboration with the rest of wind turbine design teams

**Design documentation**

Develop specifications for Blade system and subsystems to meet requested functionality, timing, cost and reliability targets across Haliade-X platform development roadmap.

Blade design requirements cover at a minimum performance, reliability, regulatory compliance, cost, environmental conditions, safety and weight.

**Component integration requirements definition**:
**Required Qualifications**
- Engineering degree with a master’s in mechanical or aeronautics design or equivalent, from an accredited university.
- Advanced knowledge of composite material design and manufacturing
- Advanced knowledge of aerodynamics design
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in wind turbines development including participation in creation of specifications, design, calculation and validation. Experience or Blade or Systems development is preferred
- Proven ability to coordinate transversal teams during development and industrialization projects
- Used to work with international codes and standards (IEC, CE,ISO )
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Availability to travel sporadically.
- Positive mindset.

- Experience in design development for wind industry.
- Experience in systems engineering for energy industry
- Experience in wind turbine loads simulation (i.e. Flex, Bladed)
- Experience in Mechanical/ Structural engineering including design based in finite elements assessment and development (i.e. Ansys, Abacus)
- Experience with systems simulation tools (i.e. Matlab, Simulink)
- Experience with CAD and mechanical tools (i.e.NX)
