**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

Under general supervision the HVAC Technician is primarily responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of equipment including: refrigeration, air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, hermetic compressors, light commercial furnaces, boilers, burners, intake and exhaust fans, economizers and humidifiers.
- Reports directly to the HVAC Foreman, and or assigned applicable work leader.
- Ensures that all duties assigned are completed in an efficient way and within the established deadline.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Shall comply with safety regulations of Royal Decrees, OSHA regulations and USAFE safety regulations, and local Laws and Regulations.
- Shall have knowledge of the Spanish and USAF directives.
- Shall comply with the appropriate USAF, KBR & Spanish Law directives, regulations, and plans.
- Shall perform other duties when assigned supporting other sections or special projects.
- Technician must be able to install, repair, adjust, maintain and troubleshoot the following equipment: Refrigerant controls (metering devices), Hermetic and semi-hermetic compressors, Heat pumps to 25-ton, Split systems to 50-ton, Packaged units to 50-ton, All types and sizes of ductless splits, Electric Motors (3-phase and 1-phase), Electric motor controls (contactors, starters, relays, disconnects, thermostats, etc.), boilers, burners and related controls, All types and sizes of water pumps, Intake and exhaust fans, Unit heaters (hot water, steam and electric), Humidifiers, Capacity Controls (unloader, hot gas bypass valves, fan cycling controls, motor masters), Flame safeguard controls, Air compressors, Air driers, Reciprocating chillers, Large Power flame type boilers, Variable frequency drives, Various types and sizes of cooling towers, Various types and sizes boilers, Various types and sizes steam generators, low and medium temperature industrial refrigeration equipment, refrigerators, freezers, and ice machines.

**MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED**:

- Is required to have a Spanish Class ‘B’ Driver’s License and Government vehicle operators permit.
- Will be able to operate all normally assigned vehicles and equipment.
- Normally employee shall wear issued personnel protective equipment (for example, safety shoes, gloves, eye protection,) or any other items required to perform assigned duties.

**WORKING ENVIRONMENT**:

- Work shall be performed both indoors and outdoors. Environment will be hot due to climate conditions in the area. This is reflected in the CLA and applicable local laws.

**PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES**:

- While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms.
- Lift up to 10 kilos.
- Employee must be able to see and hear, with or without correction, and properly communicate verbally and in written form.

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS**

**Minimum qualifications**:

- Shall have technical studies or equivalent.
- Shall Have FP-2 Diploma
- Ability to communicate in native language.
- Must have English Level I on reading, writing, and oral expression.
- Must have B driver license.
- Must have basic computer knowledge.

**Qualifications**

**Experience**:

- Minimum 10 years’ experience in installation and repair of refrigeration equipment, air conditioning equipment and electrical controls.

**Abilities**:

- Understand basic refrigeration cycle to include: identifying components in refrigeration circuit, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the refrigeration circuit, using manifold gauge set, pressure/temperature chart and temperature measuring devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot. Understands refrigeration recovery, evacuation, and charging.
