**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Under general supervision the Utilities Craftsman performs a variety of technical tasks related to installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing heating, water and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes.
- Maintains water and wastewater treatment facilities, processing, and testing equipment in a water treatment facility to purify water to meet permit and operational requirements.
- The Utilities Craftsman troubleshoots and diagnoses operational problems and takes corrective action per procedure and process knowledge.
- Monitors flow meters, gauges, flow ratios, pressures and related controls through instrument panels and programmable logic control units in assigned area.
- Monitors and records operating conditions observations and data in area shift log.
- Ensures conformance to process specifications.
- Verifies and reports suspected malfunctions and variances to the supervisor.
- Performs routine and preventative maintenance and maintenance related items as assigned.
- Performs field laboratory tests to determine chemical dosages for efficient process control.
- Ensures that all safety and environmental requirements are consistently achieved.
- Installs, inspects, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and modifies potable water distribution system/lines.
- Performs maintenance on the water treatment system on a daily, weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, semi-annual, annual, or as needed basis.
- Maintenance will be performed in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications and known industry best practices.
- Reports directly to the applicable Utilities Lead, Plumbing, or assigned applicable work leader
- Ensures all tasks assigned are carried out in a satisfactory manner in accordance to established standards.
- Installs, troubleshoots, repairs and replaces all types of plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, toilets, urinals, flush valves, bathtubs, faucets, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposals, and dishwashers.
- Clears all types and sizes of drains with cable machine and pressure washer.
- Repairs all types of water and sewer lines both inside and outside buildings.
- Inspects structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.
- Locates and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors.
- Cuts and threads pipe, using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe threading machine.
- Bends pipe to required angle by use of pipe-bending machine or by placing pipe over block and bending it by hand.
- Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings by using hand tools and power tools.
- Installs valves, pipefittings and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass and lead, and nonmetals, vitrified clay and plastic.
- Joins pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder and plastic solvent and caulks joints.
- Fills pipe system with water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking.
- Perform assigned treatment plant rounds; inspect, monitor, troubleshoot, performance test and document plant processes.
- Operate and adjust treatment plant pumps, motors, feeders and other equipment to maintain appropriate plant operations.
- Maintain, compile and update water and wastewater plant operations logs and reports; perform and record mathematical calculations related to plant operational activities.
- Install, maintain, repair, modify, troubleshoot, and service plant operations machinery and equipment including pumps, valves, motors, meters, tanks, reservoirs, and feeders.
- Collect and document samples and perform a variety of routine water quality laboratory tests; work closely with laboratory vendors; monitor laboratory results; collect water samples as required.

- Test and repair backflows with USC guidelines and requirements.
- Work may be strenuous and may involve working outdoors during inclement weather.
- Complies with applicable Royal Decree, OSHA and AFOSH safety regulations.
- Must be knowledgeable of Spanish and USAF safety policies.
- Adheres to all pertinent USAF / KBR policies, plans and directives.
- Performs all other duties as assigned including supporting other departments or special projects.
