**SENIOR SYSYTEM ENGINEER**:
As part of the Database Core you will work in an international team based in Sant Cugat - Spain and you will be responsible for the development and efficient operation of Database technologies within Boehringer Ingelheim. Moreover, you will play an essential role in ensuring efficient and reliable operational processes while implementing new automated solutions before handing them over to our service provider for the day-to-day operations.

**Tasks & responsibilities**:

- Responsible for planning, definition, technical architecture, implementation, qualification, operational concept and handover to operational support units.
- Design according to the defined BI processes of globally distributed systems and software of medium complexity of own organizational unit.
- Responsible for maintenance, optimization, continuous improvement and 3rd level support for implemented and/or assigned solutions.
- Troubleshoot escalated system and/or software issues within the sub-area of own organizational unit.
- Supports organizational goals by participating in or leading project teams.
- Delivers assigned tasks and activities in accordance with project planning.
- Assumes project manager responsibilities for projects with cross-team technical and/or organizational complexity.
- Design according to the defined BI processes of highly complex globally distributed systems and software of own organizational unit, including cross-team interfaces to systems of the other organizational units.
- Assumes System Lead responsibilities for globally distributed highly complex systems. Assumes project manager responsibilities for global projects with cross-team and cross-group technical and/or organizational complexity (e.g., global solution rollout).

**Requirements**:

- Experience with common database technologies like PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and understanding of virtualization technologies like VMware, Docker Container or Kubernetes
- Scripting knowledge and experience with automation technologies
- Knowledge of ITIL methodologies and processes will be highly beneficial
- Experience with agile project methodologies (Scrum) or similar work structure methods like Kanban are nice to have
- Excellent spoken and written English Good communication skills, analytical thinking, motivation, and open for innovation and quality orientation
