**Job Purpose**

The primary purpose of the Environment Health and Safety (EHS) Manager (Europe Cluster Lead) is to be responsible for ensuring commercial local operating companies (LOCs) and global function sites meet the GSK EHS standards and local legislations and manage the delivery of efficient and effective EHS services.

This role also provides technical support to LOCs to meet GSK’s EHS objectives, as well as implementing systems and best practices to ensure proactive measures are taken for continuous improvement.

The LOCs within scope of this role include key commercial operations, sites and functions that have a high level of importance to the delivery of medicines to patients. As such it is an impactful and influential position within the regional and global EHS team.

**In this role, you will...**
- Support the implementation of embedding and growth of the commercial EHS operating model to ensure compliance with local legislation and GSK standards.
- Act as primary contact in East and South European countries to build strong relationships with Senior Commercial leaders, Human Resources, Compliance and other functions to ensure the internal control framework (ICF) has been established to mitigate risks.
- Support the development of Commercial Environment Health and Safety and Risk Management Compliance Boards locally, or equivalent governance councils, to ensure risks are being discussed and escalated and that appropriate resources and plans are in place in each market.
- Facilitate commercial Environment Health and Safety (EHS) risk assessments in commercial local operating companies to identify risks in critical areas of compliance.
- Provide technical advice to LOCs for EHS compliance training, risk management, incident investigation management and reporting and new local EHS projects and campaigns.
- Work with other key EHS professionals to deliver an efficient service to GSK staff, and interface effectively with business partners, facilities, and project management staff

**Basic Qualifications**:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and recognized safety qualification
- Relevant experience in regional or market based EHS, in operations or strategic roles
- Pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical experience or equivalent sized highly regulated commercial business
- Experience working in large organizations, in a matrix environment
- Experience in engaging business leaders, undertaking a role in formal leader councils, committees or equivalent
- Technical understanding of risk management process and operations required to support the business as SME

**Skills**:

- Proven ability to think and act strategically and engage in long-term planning and project management.
- Strong customer focus and agility suited to the needs of a commercial operating environment.
- Ability to demonstrate consulting and collaboration skills with business leaders.
- Ability to operate as a trusted adviser to the business in all relevant EHS matters.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence effectively at all levels within an organization.
