**What does this internship consists in?**

Together with Camilo José Cela University, Airbus has developed **an exclusive program (DISCOVER) **designed for those interested in the best training in new areas of knowledge essential to be able to develop as professionals of the future.

You will have the opportunity to study a Master, organized in three training blocks, that will allow you to **DISCOVER **the skills most in demand today. It will be combined **with an 11 month internship at Airbus **in an area related to your degree, where you can learn and complete your academic background.

The start of the internship will be in early March 2023, and will last 11 months (August disabled for all purposes). It is a full-time experience (40h/week), in which you will receive an attractive study grant.

Nowadays, the number, type and technologies of sensors to be used for aircraft navigation are increasing. In the industry can be found multiples sensors, from the well-known sensors based on different GNSS constellations (GPS, GALILEO, GLONASS, BEIDOU) integrated or not with augmentation system (WAAS, EGNOSS, GAGAN, MTSAT-MSAS) till others sensors based on others technologies such as terrain database, Doppler radars, etc.

Visual Based Navigation (VBN) solutions complement other navigation means (make GNSS navigation more robust, assist an inertial navigation system) or as an autonomous navigation system. (Navigation means exclusively the localization function and not trajectory planning).

The objective of this type of solution is to provide the capability to navigate/localize from image data, in an autonomous, robust and discrete way, typically in a GNSS denied context (Optical Nav & SAR Nav).

The expected system characteristics are:

- To be an airborne system, being compliant with the applicable aeronautical standards.
- Initially, VBN is intended to be used as external aiding navigation system in addition to the certified sensors architectures (mainly ADIRUS and GPS in the civil platforms).
- The outputted VBN solution shall be compliant with the current Flight Management System protocols in order to be integrated in different avionics architectures.

The scope of project is to release a preliminary system specification defining the requirements to be fulfilled by the sensors in order to be integrated.

The content of the intership will be:

- Market survey to research the state of the art in VBN.
- Capture Customer expectations and user needs, and develop a CONOPS.
- System specification release (top level requirements, certification constraints, etc).
- Identify verification activities.
- Define interface and installation requirements.

**Your Profile**
- Recently graduates/Master students
- Studies in engineering (aerospace, telecommunications, industrial, mechanical, chemical)
- Interest in the area of Navigation.
- English: negotiation level
- Spanish: negotiation level.
- Team spirit and great collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in complex and international environments.
