Qualitative Research Assistant

**Position Title**:Qualitative Research Assistant

**Status**:Intern - 6 months

**Mission Statement**:To improve the quality of life for the Haitian people, particularly women and children.

**Role Purpose**:
Under the supervision of the MEAL Manager, she/he will analyze longitudinal qualitative data, prepare summary reports and literature reviews, and support MEAL Officers in writing to inspire and inform qualitative reporting on various thematic. She/he will assist with other administrative tasks related to maintaining a huge database of qualitative data. Specifically, the job will contribute to areas of focus of all the HFH programs, which include developing TOR and conducting research activities such as focus groups, in-depth interviews, impact, and success stories. The tasks will take at least three days per week, and the exact timings can be negotiated.

The QRA is expected to work in the office 100% of the time.

**Primary Responsibilities**:
**Essential Duties and Tasks**
- Specific technical inputs to inform ongoing research and qualitative data collection, including carrying out rapid evidence reviews, revising qualitative tools, reviewing transcripts, and drafting summaries, data coding, and analysis.
- General administration:
- Supporting maintaining an extensive database of qualitative data.
- Support the organizing of learning meetings with program teams.
- Support with the organizing of research field trips.
- Developing presentations and related materials.
- Qualitative Research Data Collection:
- Support the MEAL team in collecting data. Perform data collection laid out in a research project proposal. Research methods can include but are not limited to surveying and interviewing.
- Project Methodology Design- Support the MEAL Manager in creating a template/format for each research project.
- Research Coordination:
- Support project and MEAL team in coordinating resources, methodology design, & logistics (transportation, setting up interview time and date, etc.).
- Qualitative Data Analysis:
- Analyze project results, help draw conclusions & provide a template for each analysis (list, themes, codes, etc.) that the project supervisor can check.
- Deliverable Feedback:
- Using qualitative data analysis to write a report that can be used to explain the impact and evaluate research projects. Providing ethnographic assessments & empirical data.

**EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES**
- Education: Applicants should have completed a bachelor’s degree in sociology/economics or related fields.
- Experience: At least three years of Experience in research and/or academic/voluntary work in the related area(s).
- A degree and a postgraduate degree in a relevant social science discipline would be an advantage.

**COMPENSATION & BENEFITS**
